A bit more about me

There are many avenues where holistic wellness and fitness have entered my life. Most of the time as a result of some injury or aliment I suffered from. Fitness in general has been part of my life for a long time, however my relationship with fitness changed as I had difficulties with an eating disorder. Fitness helped me to feel good in my body and at the risk of sounding cliche, honour my body. I began yoga because I had injured my knee through running and was struggling to walk, I hated it at the beginning! I began meditation and breathwork because I had difficulties with sleep, stress and anxiety. Pilates came into my life when I suffered from a back injury and Sound Healing entered my life when I needed peace and felt lost. I have been amazed at how fitness and holistic practices can be so efficient in creating a great mindset and lifestyle patterns which impact all other areas of life and in my opinion ultimately can prevent the on set of much illness through the off set of stress both physically and mentally as well as emotionally. My mission is to help others through sharing this.

My Teaching Tenets and
Physical Training Background

I include this section so people can get an idea of the experience I have in my own life with physical training to get an idea of my style.

Great technique/Form
Over the years I have tried many sports but have mostly gravitated to modalities in which alignment and technique are important and this is a large part of my teaching approach. I practiced ballet and weight training for many years which consolidated much of my form- lead approach today.

Try but don’t force
I combine this with a yoga approach where we find balance; yes it’s important to strive towards good alignment but we need to consider what our own body is capable of and find somewhere in the middle. For all of us, some movements are easy and something may never happen, and that’s okay.

Eclectic approach
I have also been a big fan of fitness in general to look and feel good! My style is informed by many different approaches (running, cycling, weight lifting, ballet, contortion) to keep fitness interesting and so that you can find a class that works well for you.
My workout and sculpting classes are inspired by my pilates, dance background and weight training. Whereas the basic stretching programmes on the platform are targeted towards runners, cyclists and gym goers which are all about quick, easy and ‘get it done’ stretching.

All levels
I feel it’s so important to cater to all levels, which is why all classes are labelled with both the level and the pace (how quickly the class is moving onto one thing to the next).

Advanced Practitioners
Another area I have practiced is more extreme flexibility and strength practices such as contortion and handstanding. This is what has lead me to include advanced practices on the platform, to show you how to get to more advanced poses (if you want to step my step, these are technical classes).

Over the years I have come to enjoy yoga for many reasons. Yoga is the expert at both calming and centering the mind. As one of my teachers says, ‘yoga is bringing you back to your natural state by showing you your resistances.’
I show this gallery on my website to hopefully inspire and show that the yoga practice is primarily and almost wholly a practice of the mind. When I began yoga I was in a bad place mentally and physically, not being able to walk well with a knee injury and suffering from terrible anxiety. I’m still not very ‘good’ and I definitely wasn’t very wasn’t when I started but I feel the most important thing is to try and that is the practice; to turn up and try. The beauty of yoga is that everyone can practice it anytime in their life, at any age, any level, from all walks of life.

“Issi is a kind spirit with a gentle soul, thoughtful, and patient. Her tailored practices are a great mix of strength, flow, deep breathing, and relaxation.

Issi has a very great way of passing on instructions, the guidance are vey clear in what she wants me to do, where I am supposed to feel the pose and what the purpose of the poses are.

The way she instructs, guides me through the sequences and her wonderfully calming voice just makes her class so unique.

I love my weekly sessions. Her space is the perfect safe haven, filled with love and great energy. I’ve never felt stronger, more in-tuned with my mind and body or as centred.

I absolutely encourage you to book a session and assure you that you will not be disappointed!”

“I’ve been doing yoga on and off for a number of years now but Issi is by far the best teacher I’ve come across. She teaches in the most beautiful relaxing way, always making sure everyone is practicing each pose correctly. Her classes are both challenging and relaxing the perfect balance. I’ve been lucky enough to attend a couple of Issi’s retreats, both day ones and longer weekend ones. They are such a treat to take part in and carefully organised to every little detail.

Issi also runs sound healing masterclasses to her and I can’t recommend taking part in these enough! What an experience!

I am grateful to have found Issi and will continue to enjoy her holistic approach to life for many years to come.”

Testimonials

“When I moved to London I found it hard to get back into my Yoga practice and really priorities that time for me. When I met Issi, she brought the spark back and I found myself committing to her classes weeks in advance.

The way I would describe Issi’s class I believe is a direct reflection of her as a person; Nurturing and calm, has an exciting energy about trying new things, while always with a smile on her face.

Issi has a true interest in building relationships with her students which is one of the many things that makes me, and other students, continually come back to her classes..”
